Weekly Updates
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In an effort to fill
gaps in the existing sidewalk system, the Village of Northbrook has
implemented a Sidewalk Improvement Program to construct five foot wide
Portland Cement Concrete sidewalk along various streets located
throughout the Village. The standard alignment is to construct the
street-side edge of the sidewalk a distance of five feet from the back
of curb. For streets without curb, the street-side edge of the new
sidewalk is to be constructed approximately seven feet from the pavement
edge. Where conflicts arise with existing mature landscaping, bushes,
trees, and surface structures, the alignment of the sidewalk may be
adjusted to avoid conflicts.
Beginning this year,
2007, it is anticipated that all sidewalk within the Program will be
constructed by 2009. The 2007 Sidewalk Program is currently underway and
is anticipated to construct approximately 25,775 linear feet of sidewalk
on various residential streets.

With construction
beginning promptly after Labor Day, the Contractor has been requested to
begin installing sidewalk in Location #2. It is anticipated that
construction within Location #1 will begin in late September 2007. All
contract work is scheduled to be completed by November 30, 2007.
