As a Bicycle Friendly Business, The Burke Group provides mileage reimbursement, changing facilities and bicycle storage for our employees while promoting bicycling for the environment, fun, fitness and transportation. Since the creation of our year-round “Bike to Work” program by Mike Kerr and Jonathan O’Connell in 2006, employees have ridden over 400,000 miles. CBBEL is recognized by the League of American Bicyclists as a “Platinum” level Bicycle Friendly Business. The Bicycle Friendly Business Program recognizes employer’s efforts to encourage a more bicycle-friendly atmosphere for employees and clients and honors innovative bike friendly efforts. In 2020 for the third consecutive year, CBBEL was named one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters. Best Workplace for Commuters members are nationally recognized leaders offering outstanding commuter benefits to their employees. In addition, CBBEL is recognized as a reporting member by Clean Air Counts. Biking to Work promotes employee health and fitness, increases employee morale, helps the environment as well as corporate image, and makes our bikers better designers.
Over 180 employees have participated in the Program and over 400,000 miles have been commuted on bike. That equates to approximately 800,000 pounds of CO2 eliminated, over 18,500,000 calories burned and over $85,500 in gas money saved.
