An infrastructure assessment performed in 2005 identified the areas in the Village of Forest Park most in need of repair and compared project delivery alternatives. Schedule and budget constraints dictated a turnkey delivery for the project. Burke, LLC Design/Build was contracted to deliver design, permitting, and construction management services. Phase I of the project included watermain replacement and sewer spot repair improvements for eight streets and nineteen alleys. Pavement upgrades include reconstruction and resurfacing. All areas were made ADA compliant. Brick streets were reconstructed using the same material. Alleys were reconstructed with new driveways and storm sewers. Traffic calming measures were installed at two intersections to reduce vehicle speeds, improve safety, and enhance quality of life. The measures include benches, ornamental lighting, and decorative landscaping. The project delivery team consisted of Cerniglia Company, J.A. Johnson Paving, and Kings Point General Cement.
