CBBEL was part of the Parsons Brinckerhoff consultant engineering team selected by IDOT and INDOT to prepare a Tier One and Tier Two Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Illiana Corridor project. The Illiana Corridor is a proposed new transportation facility south of I-80 that will connect I-55 in Illinois and I-65 in Indiana, a distance of approximately 50 miles. The Tier One studies were initiated in 2011 within a 950 square mile project study area within Will and Kankakee Counties in Illinois, and Lake County, Indiana. The Tier One Record of Decision (ROD), identifying the selected corridor, was issued by FHWA in January 2013. The Tier Two ROD, providing FHWA project concurrence and environmental approval, was issued in December 2014.

CBBEL’s work on the Illiana Corridor project was focused on providing supporting engineering and environmental study services, public involvement, agency coordination, and technical writing associated with preparation of the Tier One and Tier Two EIS and development of the alternatives evaluation reports.
