CBBEL was hired by the City of West Chicago to plan and design a new Salt Storage Facility within the City’s Public Works complex. Once the preliminary design was complete, the estimated construction costs exceeded the City’s budget. In an effort to save time and money, Burke LLC Design/Build was retained to provide construction management services. Burke LLC was able to bring the project cost down to within the City’s budget while still providing the necessary infrastructure. The site was converted from a depressional area into an elevated salt storage facility capable of holding 7,000 tons of salt, with parking and gate-controlled access. The project was completed in time for the City to receive its annual salt allotment.
